BO & CARLY SHOULD STAY!!!

www.theprincessandthesailor.yuku.com is filled with devout Carbo fans( including yours truly) who wish that Bo and Carly- reunited after 16 years apart- stay together and are prepared to do anything to make that happen.  Right now we have reasons to be nervous because- one, the DAYS writers are involving Carly a tad too much in the Dan/Chloe storyline rather than focus on her and Bo's fresh start and also there's a rumor buzzing in the Princess & the Sailor community  that the Carbos are NOT going to be very happy.
I have to admit, the producers and the writers are not putting in their best right now; keeping us in suspense  about the fate of Bo and Carly- especially since their love story has been revived after so long . You would think that this two, drawn together out of loneliness and unhappiness , would be given a happy ending considering Carly's return was so unexpected to begin with. Bo is the man she's truly been in love with and Bo is obviously very happy with her; just like he was back in the day.

The writers should therefore stop all this foolishness and give  "the princess and the sailor" a proper fresh start and storyline that involves climbing the Castello in Mexico where they had their symbolic Mayan wedding and give them a properly  officiated ceremony. I have a  very strong feeling if Bo and Carly split, there would definitely be a lot of sulky Carbos, not to mention a sheer drop in ratings!

THE RICH ALSO CRY: REMAKE!!!

My first reaction on discovering this was shock, who on earth could top Veronica Castro and Rogelio Guerra as Marianna and Luis Alberto respsectively; especially since, according to the comments to my post , people are still crazy for the original. Speaking of which, if you're interested in buying this telenovela ONLINE, follow this link: THE RICH ALSO CRY DVD

The remake is entitled  MARIA LA DEL BARRIO,(roughly translated as Maria of the Borough) starring Mexican singer  Thalia as  Maria and   actor Fernando Colunga (Esmeralda,  La Usurpadora) as Luis Fernando and first released in 1995, produced by Televisa.  Unlike the 1979 original, Maria Hernandez is no lost heiress but a 15 year old homeless girl on the streets who is taken in by a priest and handed over to a rich man in the parish to work as a maid but as we all know, the man, Don Fernando de la Vega had other ideas; he legally adopted her as his daughter - much to his wife's (Victoria) and niece's(Soraya) horror; arranging for her education and so on. Along came the spoilt, drunken son,  Luis Fernando who at first tried to seduce the young and beautiful Maria but ended up falling in love with her and changing his ways.
Which of course didn't sit well with Soraya  but after a long battle for who gets to be Mrs. de la Vega, Luis Fernando & Maria became man and wife but alas, all hell broke lose after he caught his brother Vladimir hugging her and assumed the worse- refusing to believe the child she was carrying was his. Maria had  a nervous breakdown and gave up their son, named Fernandito, up for adoption. A little girl was adopted after she got better, but of course Maria constantly worried about Fernandito. Worse, Soraya came back to the household bent on revenge against Maria by using Fernandito against her. But of course, like all telenovelas, the wicked are overcome and the good end up living in peace.

VERDICT???? : I PREFER THE ORIGINAL, HANDS DOWN.

THE INFORMATION OFFICER by Mark Mills
At last, the everyday fighting men who were the first Americans to know the full and horrifying truth about the Holocaust share their astonishing stories. Rich with powerful never-before-published details from the author's interviews with more than 150 U.S. soldiers who liberated the Nazi death camps, The Liberators is an essential addition to the literature of World War II—and a stirring testament to Allied courage in the face of inconceivable atrocities. The liberators' recollections are historically important, vivid, riveting, heartbreaking, and, on rare occasions, joyous and uplifting. This book is their opportunity, perhaps for the last time, to tell the world.

ADIEU GARY COLEMAN (ARNOLD)

Due to my peanuts salary, it was ages before I was able to afford this month's Internet subcription. I've missed this blog so much that I could'nt wait to go back to it. But I hadnt counted on the lastest post being another obituary.

`
I heard the news of Gary Coleman's death yesterday and  I was and am very, very sad.
The sitcom he starred with Todd Bridges (Willis), Conrad Bain(Phillip Drummond) & Dana Plato(Kimberly), Diff'rent Strokes was a never to be missed programme as a child, I could never stop laughing at their antics- especially Gary's character, Arnold. The last time I saw them together again, minus Bain, was on VIBE in 1999 with Sinbad and I was so psyched seeing them all grown up and nostalgia hit hard when some memorable scenes were played on the show.

Words just can't express my sadness; years back Dana died at the young age of 34- it's amazing and frightening just how life is unpredictable and fragile. It was just yesterday that I was watching the show and laughing at the three of them. It's true they had their problems long after the show wrapped up but then again it's one of  the harsh realites of life. But now and always, Gary will always be Arnold just as Dana would always be Arnold and Willis' loving, warm hearted sister; Kimberly.
May Gary's Coleman's soul rest in peace and may Almighty God grant him and Dana His infinite Mercy. AMIN.
